Resin Methodology + Theory
During 2016 - 2019 Fairman produced a series of resin earring collections, for NGV Design Store (Melbourne) and GOMA Design Store (Queensland). These earring collections were borne from her prior established sculptural installation visual art practice.
"Developed especially for the NGV design store from her Melbourne studio in 2016, Fairman's debut Geo-Alchemy collection includes the unique Heartstone pendant, first created as a one-off design in 2014."

Each design in Fairman’s resin jewellery range is personally hand-sculpted, then individually hand-cast in epoxy or polyurethane resins in carefully curated colours. Fairman’s extensive experience as a sculptor and installation artist is distilled into each of her exquisitely detailed, one-of-a-kind resin pieces.
She refers to her resin jewellery as “Geo-Alchemy” – highly sculptural forms that capture suspended moments of nuanced colour and iridescence, formed through a process of material knowledge and chance.
Whilst her use of moulds create consistency in sculptural form, the artist's gesture is then highlighted through the individual chemical "atmospheres" of each piece.
Her carefully considered method of production means that the dynamics within each piece are subtly unique. It is in this delicate individuality that these wearable art forms gain their preciousness.
Fairman’s examination of the simulacra is evident in even the smallest of her jewellery pieces. The forms evoke notions of replication of a naturalist geography, whilst upon closer inspection, the hybrid colour palette and alchemical infusions allow Fairman to “paint” enclosed, miniaturised environments of phenomena.
Each piece of Fairman’s 'Geo-Alchemy' pieces are finished with rose gold or sterling silver hand-made studs.
